Armenian president speaks in support of new pension system
“There has been no country, in which the transition to a compulsory accumulative pension system went off quietly. Changes will become tangible some time later,” Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said when responding to questions of the participants in the congress of Yerkrapah Volunteer Union.
In his words, long discussions were held prior to the transition to the new system.
“Following the discussions, we consciously took this step as we know that it is done for our children and grandchildren. The issue was discussed by all the governments of Armenia and the current government took this step. I completely support this decision,” the president said.
According to S. Sargsyan, pension funds will give much impetus to the economic development.
