Serzh Sargsyan: Sustainable economic growth expected this year
The economic growth rates in 2013 were lower than in 2012, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said when responding to questions of participants in Yerkrapah Volunteer Union’s congress today.
“The economic growth rate was lower compared with the previous year’s index when 7% growth was recorded. Economic growth will make about 3.5% this year,” the president noted.
According to him, the International Monetary Fund forecast 3.8% growth for CIS countries, but in reality the index was much lower.
“3.7% growth was forecast for Russia, in reality 1.5% growth was registered – the growth rate halved. The reasons are clear. 2013 was a year of uncertainties, but it has passed and decisions were taken. Sustainable economic growth has been recorded in Armenia in the last six months. Sustainable economic growth is expected this year as well,’ the Armenian president said.
