Discussion held on strategy of alternative punishment in Armenia

The Secretary of Armenia’s National Security Council (NSC) Arthur Baghdasarian chaired a sitting of the interdepartmental working group, which has been set up to develop a strategy of infliction of alternative punitive measures in Armenia, according to the press service of NSC.

The draft document on the introduction of a probation service in Armenia was discussed at the sitting. It was stated that international experience of alternative punishment infliction, in particular the experience of EU member countries , has been studied, taking into account the socioeconomic progress of these countries in the past few years.

A decision was taken to submit the draft for approval at the next sitting of NSC. “The creation of a probation service in Armenia is of social and public significance,” Arthur Baghdasarian said.
