Drug prices may go up in Armenia after entry into Customs Union
According to preliminary estimates, drug prices will go up by 10% in case of Armenia’s entry into the Customs Union. The chairman of the Union of Medicine Producers and Importers of Armenia Samvel Zakarian told the correspondent of Aysor.am that within the Customs Union, a 10% customs duty is levied on the import of raw materials for drug production. Such duties are currently minimal in Armenia.
In case of joining the Customs Union, prices of drugs made in Armenia will go up. The Union has asked Armenian Economy Ministry to include this issue in the agenda of talks with the Customs Union, otherwise an increase in drug prices is inevitable.
