Baghian: 24-30% of farm products imported into Armenia from CU
24-30% of farm products are imported into Armenia from the Customs Union member countries, while exports from Armenia amount to 70% (90-95% in case of some products), Armenian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Grisha Baghian told journalists today.
According to him, Armenia should sell surpluses of its agricultural produce in CU states, while increasing agricultural production and processing.
The deputy minister said that Armenia should conduct negotiations with the Customs Union over a list of products. The matter concerns such products whose customs duties are higher than in Armenia, due to which the prices of those products could go up after Armenia joins the CU. The list will be released following the negotiations, the deputy minister noted.
Baghian ruled out the possibility that low-quality or expensive products will be imported into Armenia after its entry into the Customs Union.
