Makarian: Gazprom Armenia should review its policy
Gazprom Armenia Company should review its policy, the chairman of the Union of Armenian Employers Gagik Makarian told reporters today.
In his words, the rise in gas and electricity prices has resulted in a sharp decline of sales of Armenian goods abroad.
The price hikes negatively affected Armenian canneries, the union chairman said.
“For example, Alishan cannery exporting products to CIS countries is currently on the brink of bankruptcy and will have to close,” Makarian noted.
Speaking about Armenia’s upcoming entry into the Customs Union, he expressed an opinion that membership in the Customs Union will give Armenia a number of advantages.
“In any case, few Armenian goods are now offered in European market and Armenia’s entry into the Customs Union will help develop the agriculture,” Makarian said.
According to him, it is time for Armenian manufacturers to review the quality of goods in order to work up those markets.
