Czech court allows Iran national extradition to US
A Prague court has ruled that an Iranian national can be extradited to face trial in the United States.
Hossein Nayeri was one of four men that allegedly kidnapped a California marijuana dispensary owner in 2012, tortured him, drove him out to a desert spot where the men believed the victim had hidden his money and cut off his penis.
Spokeswoman Marketa Puci confirmed Wednesday's ruling by the Municipal Court. Nayeri can appeal while the justice minister has to give a final green light.
The four could face up to life in prison without possibility of parole if convicted.
After the crime, Nayeri fled to Iran, where he remained for several months. He was arrested in Prague in November while changing flights from Iran to Spain to visit family.
