M. Khojoyan still in hospital, OSCE representatives to visit him
77-year-old Armenian citizen Mamikon Khojoyan, who was freed by Azerbaijan yesterday, is still in hospital. He is in stable condition, the administrator of Verin Karmiraghbyur village Kamo Chobanian told Aysor.am.
“We applied to the head of healthcare unit of the regional administration and now Mamikon is at the center of his attention. Representatives of the OSCE and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) will visit him today. If doctors allow him, Mamikon will leave the hospital and return to his home in Verin Karmiraghbyur,” Chobanian said.
In his words, the old man has not yet regained his memory. He does not recognize anyone.
“Doctors say it might have happened because of fear. He does not realize where he is. He does not realize that he is in Armenia. I spoke with his doctor who said that Mamikon had to sleep on a concrete floor for a few days,” Kamo Chobanian said.
Mamikon Khojoyan is a resident of Varin Karmiraghbyur village in Armenia’s Tavush province. He crossed into Azerbaijan by accident. The village administrator Kamo Chobanian said Khojoyan suffers from a mental disorder. He was released by Azerbaijan yesterday. The old man was immediately taken to Ijevan hospital for medical examination.
