Yerevan police warn protesters over illegality of their actions
Deputy Chief of the Yerevan Police Valery Osipian has warned participants of the protest against the compulsory accumulative pension system’s introduction that their protest action is not authorized by city authorities and is therefore illegal.
“You are violating Article 43 of the Constitution. We refuse to obey lawful orders of policemen. You are violating other citizens’ rights,” Osipin said, demanding that the protesters stop the protest and open the street.
Protester Hayk Avetisian demanded that V. Osipian should release the demonstrators who were detained earlier today. In his words, otherwise they will hold a protest outside the police building.
Osipian and Avetisian have not come to an agreement. The protest is continuing.
