Prosecutor general will henceforth be accountable to parliament
The RA National Assembly’s Standing Committee on State and Legal Affars chaired by David Harutyunian today discussed in the second reading the bill on an amendment to the Law on the Rules of Procedure of the NA. By the bill, the Armenian Prosecutor General shall present a report about the activities of the Prosecutor General’s Office in the previous year to the Armenian President and the National Assembly. The report must be presented by April 1 of each year. The report will be followed by a discussion, with no documents to be adopted.
The Armenian government has expressed a positive opinion about the bill presented by Deputy Justice Minister Aram Orbelian.
The bill was approved by the Standing Committee and will be included in the draft agenda of the upcoming four-day session of the parliament.
