Civil initiative to stage rally against pension scheme on March 22
“I am against the compulsory accumulative pension system” civil initiative will stage a rally and a march on March 22. The rally will start at 2:00 pm in Liberty Square of Yerevan. The civil initiative issued a statement which says in particular:
“As is known, four factions of the Armenian parliament applied to the Constitutional Court, asking it to recognize several articles of the law as unconstitutional. The Constitutional Court will start examining the case on March 28 and this process may last for up to 3 months. March 28 is a crucial day in our struggle and it is the first day of court proceedings. Out struggle will enter a new stage”.
According to the statement, the purpose of the rally is to inform the public about what has happened after the January 18 rally and march and give an adequate assessment to these developments, to demonstrate the unity and willingness to wage a struggle to the Armenian government bodies, and to demand that the Constitutional Court should recognize the controversial articles as unconstitutional, otherwise civil revolt and disobedience will be the path of the problem’s solution.
After the rally, participants will stage a march along the following route: Liberty Square - Mashtots Avenue – Sayat Nova Street – Abovian Street – Republic Square – Amirian Street – Mashtots Avenue – Liberty Square.
The civil initiative urges all interested citizens and political forces to participate in the rally and the march.
