Working group set up to develop draft Criminal Code
By an order of Armenian Justice Minister Hrayr Tovmasian, a working group has been set up to develop a concept of Armenia’s new Criminal Code and a draft Criminal Code and prepare the necessary legislative package.
The working group will have to develop the concept and submit it to the justice minister by April 10, 2014. The draft Criminal Code shall be submitted by July 1, 2015, Justice Ministry said in a statement.
The working group will participate in expert and public discussions of the concept of the new Criminal Code and the draft Code’s provisions and examine the proposals by interested bodies and organizations (including international ones) concerning the concept of the new Criminal Code and the draft Criminal Code.
After the government sends the draft to the parliament, the working group will participate in parliamentary debates, in particular by presenting the provisions of the draft and their substantiations.
If necessary, the working group will submit expert analyses related to the concept of the new Criminal Code and the draft’s provisions to interested bodies and international organizations.
