Melkonian: Armenia-EU cooperation continues

Cooperation between Armenia and the European Union continues, Armenian Deputy Minister of Economy Garegin Melkonian told reporters today.

“The agenda of Armenia-EU cooperation continues, perhaps with new emphases,” he said.

The EU programs such as Twinning, Taiex, SIGMA are continuing in Armenia, with regular events being held to inform the interested organizations about the EU programs’ instruments and the methods of their use.

According to the deputy minister, state bodies are beneficiaries of Twinning and Twinning SIGMA. Other organizations may also be involved in the trans-border assistance program to be launched in late 2014.

Melkonian also spoke about new emphases, particularly those related to the private sector and agriculture, in the EU financial and legal instruments. He did not specify, however, the amount of assistance to be provided by the EU.
