Village mayor: Arsen Khojayan was presumably taken away at border
There is no news about Verin Karmiraghbyur village resident Arsen Khojayan, 23, who crossed into Azerbaijan on March 7, the mayor of Verin Karmiragbyur village Kamo Chobanian told Aysor.am.
“There has been no news since the ICRC called us and clarified some facts,” Chobanian said.
The village mayor supposes that the young man did not lose his way and then cross the Azerbaijani border, but he was taken away near the border.
“We can only make conjectures, judging from his last phone calls. I think they took him away. When Arsen last called his friend in the village, he asked the friend to look after his sheep as he was going to Movses. The road to Movses lies very close to the border, and there was a dense fog. I think they noticed him, frightened him with gunfire and took him away,’ Kamo Chobanian said, adding that he considers it strange that the Azerbaijani mass media have not reported anything about Arsen in the past few days.
“In case of Mamikon Khojoyan, they released reports constantly, but now they keep silent, which is strange. Besides, an Azerbaijani television company said that Arsen approached a girl in their village and requested a phone charger. But that’s impossible. I don’t know. Let’s wait and see what will happen,” Kamo Chobanian noted.
In his words, apart from Arsen, their family has another six children. He is the eldest child and helped take care of them.
We would remind you that Arsen Khojayan was captured at Tovuz station in Azerbaijan on March 7, 2014.
