Residents of 7 Armenian villages protest hydropower plant construction
Residents of seven villages in Armenia’s Aragatsotn province gathered at Karbi village to protest the construction of a hydropower plant there. They were joined by environmental activists. The residents of villages are waiting for Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgian to arrive, Aysor.am was informed by an activist, Yeghia Nersisian.
He said that there are policemen at the scene and the situation is quiet.
We would remind you that a hydropower plant is to be constructed near the villages of Karbi and Ohanavan. The local residents are opposed to the construction which they say will reduce water resources and damage their sowing areas.
