Hydropower plant not to be built near Karbi and Ohanavan presently

Armenian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgian met with residents of Karbi and Ohanavan villages on March 19. The Armenian president and the prime minister were informed about the meeting results on the same day.

On the instructions of the president, Aragatsotn regional governor Sargis Sahakian met with residents of these villages today. He told farmers the government will encourage only those community development programs which do not create obstacles to agricultural activities. Taking into account the residents’ concern about the program’s efficiency, a decision was taken to suspend construction work on the subsidized water-pipe. Local residents were encouraged to proceed to the planned agricultural work.
