Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II concerned over situation in Kesab

Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II on March 24 had a telephone conversation with Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilicia Aram I in connection with the situation in Kesab and nearby regions, as a result of which the civilian population, mostly Armenians, were evacuated, many homes burned and destroyed, and sacred places desecrated.

According to the information services of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, Karekin II expressed his concern about the recent events and condemned the terrorist actions of Turkey-supported extremists against the peaceful population of Kesab. During the conversation Karekin II expressed his support to Aram I.

In connection with the situation in Kesab, Catholicos Karekin II also had a conversation with Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Damascus, Bishop Armash Nalbandian.

During a consultation held in his residence, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II reaffirmed that the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin together with the Dioceses will continue to assist the Syrian Armenians, praying that peace will be established in the life of the Syrian people and the evacuated families and refugees will return to their homes.
