Prime minister receives chief of IMF Armenia Mission
Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received today Chief of the IMF Armenia Mission Mark Horton.
The interlocutors highly appreciated bilateral cooperation, expressing confidence that it will continue to develop successfully, the press office of the government said.
Mark Horton congratulated the prime minister on the approval by the IMF of a $125 million ‘extended financing’ program.
In his words, the IMF’s Executive Board positively assessed the path followed by Armenia, the new program, and the future prospects. All the directors, especially those representing European states, expressed their support for Armenia, Mark Horton added.
The sides also discussed issues related to the current state and development prospects of the Armenian economy and the reforms underway in various spheres. Mark Horton stressed the importance of pension reforms and expressed a readiness to assist with their implementation.
The sides exchanged views on regional developments. According to Mark Horton, the IMF is prepared to continue assisting Armenia in overcoming various challenges and risks.
The sides also addressed issues related to improvement of Armenia’s business environment and investment attraction.
