Prison employee uses fake diploma to make career

The Special Investigation Service of Armenia (SIS) finished a preliminary investigation into the criminal case opened under Article 325 part 1 of the RA Criminal Code over the use of a fake diploma by Mushegh Vardanian, a 2nd category specialist of the security unit in ‘Artik’ penal institution.

The investigators revealed that Mushegh Vardanian used a fake document to be appointed to a vacant position of the key specialist, according to the website of SIS.

Although M. Vardanian did not study at Lvov National University after Ivan Franko, in the fall of 2001 he bought a fake diploma for $3,000 from a man named Seryozha. On September 27, 2013 Vardanian submitted that diploma to the head of the personnel department of ‘Artik’ penal institution.

He was charged under Article 325 part 1 of the Criminal Code.

The investigator has sent the case along with the indictment to the prosecutor for approval. The case will then go to court.
