Gevorg Kostanian: Assessment to be made in Harsnakar case incident
An assessment will be made concerning the incident that took place during the court hearing of the Harsnakar case after the court record is examined, Armenian Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanian told journalists following the government session today.
The court of general jurisdiction of Yerevan’s Avan and Nor-Nork communities on March 24 announced the verdict on the Harsnakar case.
Garik Margarian, Arman Baghdasarian, Arman Khachatrian and Norayr Hayrapetian got 12 years in prison each. They will also have to pay a fine of 100,000 drams.
After the verdict was announced, the defendants’ relatives made a row in the courtroom, shouting curses and insults at the judge and lawyers. The following day they staged a protest outside of the Armenian presidential residence, demanding a review of the case.
We would remind you that on June 17, 2012 medical doctor, the head of ENT unit of Defense Ministry’s Yerevan military hospital Vahe Avetian was beaten up at Harsnakar Restaurant. He died in hospital on June 29.
Six men – Arman Khachatrian, Noryar Hayrapetian, Garik Margarian, Arman Baghdasarian, David Adamian and Arthur Babloyan were arrested and charged with beating of Vahe Avetian, Aratak Bayadian, Garik Soghomonian, Arkady Aghajanian and Edgar Nikoyan.
