Text of CC decision on Accumulative Pension Law published
The full text of the Armenian Constitutional Court’s (CC) decision on the Law on Accumulative Pensions has been published. The CC took the decision yesterday. The document is available on the official website of the CC.
We would remind you that the four non-coalition factions of the parliament – ARF-Dashnaktsutyun, Prosperous Armenia, Armenian National Congress, and Heritage factions filed a lawsuit to challenge the constitutionality of some provisions of the Law on Accumulative Pensions.
The compulsory accumulative pension system was introduced in Armenia on January 1, 2014. Under the new Law on Accumulative Pensions, citizens born after 1974 have to pay 5% of their salaries to special accumulative funds, and the state shall pay another 5%.
The four non-coalition factions asked the Constitutional Court to declare the new law unconstitutional.
On January 24 the CC suspended the effect of parts 3 of Article 76 and article 86 of the Law on Accumulative Pensions pending the court decision.
On April 2 the CC announced a 64-page decision on the case. By the decision, several articles of the law are declared unconstitutional and null and void.
