Chobanian: No need to react to IT representatives’ criticism passionately

“We should assess the processes in the IT sector objectively and honestly and not try to put the sector in a more favorable light,” Deputy Director of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE) Hayk Chobanian told the correspondent of Aysor.am.

In his words, there is no need to react so passionately to the criticism voiced by employees of IT enterprises because it is criticism of people concerned about the situation in IT industry.

In particular, Chobanian recalled that he said during a press conference last year that the growth rates in IT sector are unsatisfactory and Armenia fails to keep pace with technological development in the world. “This statement met with a hostile reception of the Armenian government, particularly the prime minister,” he noted.

Hayk Chobanian stressed that in reality the opposite should happen: criticism related to the IT sector should become a subject of discussion so as to amend the situation.
