Sargsyan to sign agreement on entry into CU on April 29
‘Haykakan Zhamanak’ daily says that on April 29 Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan will attend the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Minsk. In all likelihood the agreement on Armenia’s entry into the Customs Union will be signed at the meeting.
Armenian Deputy Minister of Economy, head of the working group doing preparatory work for entry into the Customs Union Ms. Karine Minasian told the paper that work envisaged by the roadmap has been mostly completed.
The agreement will be signed by Presidents of Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Armenia.
The daily notes that there is still no final decision concerning about 900 goods whose customs duties in Armenia are much lower than in the CU member states. Unless a final decision is taken, prices of these goods may rise sharply after Armenia joins the Customs Union.
