Prime Minister Abrahamian receives IT sector representatives
The newly appointed Prime Minister of Armenia Hovik Abrahamian received today representatives of the Union of IT Enterprises of Armenia (UITE), the press office of the government reported.
According to Hovik Abrahamian, the government will continue to develop and strengthen cooperation with IT enterprises.
“I am sure that it is important for our country, economy, and civil society. Today is my second working day since the appointment and, as I attach importance to this sector’ future and its cooperation with the government, I intend to intensify our meetings and discussions and I am prepared to hear your proposals and recommendations,” Abrahamian said.
The acting Chief of the Government staff Vatche Gabrielian spoke about cooperation between the government and the IT sector and the programs implemented. He said the government gives priority to the development of IT industry and for this purpose the IT Development Support Council under the prime minister operates and meetings and debates in various formats have become a tradition. In particular, a result of cooperation of the Armenian government and IT sector is a new bill granting privileges to new enterprises of the sector. The bill has already been submitted to the National Assembly.
The IT sector representatives congratulated Hovik Abrahamian on his appointment and then presented the sector’s problems and development prospects. In particular, Hovik Abrahamian discussed – among other issues – the current situation due to the introduction of the compulsory accumulative pension system. He stressed the importance of solving problems through a dialog. He also stressed the need to train the personnel, adding that he considers it a key factor of the IT sector’s further development.
The sides also discussed the development of information technology in Armenian provinces. An agreement was reached to hold such meetings regularly to achieve results through cooperation and dialog.
