Poor apricot harvest forecast in Armenia this year
Armenian farmers expect to gather only 6-8 thousand tons of apricot this year. According to Deputy Agriculture Minister Garnik Petrosian, such a low yield is a result of frosts that hit Armenia in late March and early April. Last year the apricot harvest amounted to 88 thousand tons.
He at the same time said that the state assisted and will assist the frost-affected farmers by distributing seeds, diesel fuel, and fertilizers to them and exempting them from land and water taxes.
According to preliminary data, frosts caused damage of 11 billion 181 million drams.
