Vayk not badly affected by frost. Agriculture diversified
Spring frosts have damaged mainly apricot, cherry and walnut trees in Vayots Dzor province, regional governor Edgar Ghazarian told reporters today.
In his words, although apricot trees in low-lying areas were affected by frosts, the impact on local land users will not be considerable since the agricultural sector in the province is diversified, with farmers growing various types of fruit trees and raising cattle.
The regional administration allocated 5 million drams to compensate frost-hit farmers for land tax. Most assistance will be given to farmers who have large apricot orchards and those facing social problems.
