Man charged with serviceman’s murder sews his mouth shut
David Khachatryan charged with murder of fellow soldier Lyuks Stepanyan has sewn his mouth shut, Aysor.am was informed by his lawyer, Yerem Sargsyan.
According to the lawyer, D. Khachatryan took that step to protest the unfair actions against him.
“D. Khachatryan understands that the incident occurred through his fault, but he demands that he should be tried for improper handling of firearms, as a result of which he killed by recklessness. But he should not be tried for murder – David didn’t want to kill Lyuks,” the lawyer said.
At the last court sitting, the prosecutor demanded 18-year imprisonment for David Khachatryan.
On May 15, 2013 conscript David Khachatryan fired from his AKM rifle at another conscript, Lyuks Stepanyan who died of a gunshot wound to the head.
