Military hospital doctor taken into custody for bribe
A doctor of the therapeutics department, medical captain Susanna Yeganyan was caught taking a bribe to keep a conscript in the central military hospital until demobilization. She was charged under Article 311 part 3 point 3 of the Criminal Code – acceptance of a big bribe by an official.
Senior PR officer of Armenian Defense Ministry’s Investigative Service Mary Sargsyan told Aysor.am that S. Yegnyan was detained. Arrest was chosen as a measure of restraint for her.
We would remind you that employees of the Military Police of Defense Ministry established that between March 24 and April 14, a man, who introduced himself as the head of the cardiologic department of the Mkhitar Heratsi medical center, had demanded and accepted a sum of 480 thousand drams from citizen M.G. He promised to keep conscript S. V. in the therapeutics department of the Defense Ministry’s central clinical hospital until the end of demobilization (June 5).
In this connection the Military Police opened a criminal case under Article 178 part 2 point 5. The case was transferred to Defense Ministry’s Investigative Service. An investigation is underway.
