“The government program was developed based on the provisions of the 2013 government program, Armenia’s national security concept and the election programs of the Armenian president and Republican Party of Armenia, as well as the programs of the parliamentary parties,” A. Gevorgyan said.
The Armenian government declares that the Armenian citizens and ensuring their freedoms, security and prosperity are the primary objective of the government’s activity. The Armenian government will do its best to encourage creative work of Armenian citizens for building the Homeland’s future. For every Armenian, the Homeland will become a reliable country for fulfillment of his/her potential, knowledge and experience gained in various corners of the world.
Such an opportunity to realize their potential can only be created under equal conditions and in an environment that ensures real competition. The Armenian government will ensure equal rules of game and the openness of the Armenian economy to both domestic and foreign investors.
According to Armen Gevorgyan, the government program reflects ideas and approaches voiced during the Armenian prime minister’s meetings with various NGOs and unions, especially those assisting entrepreneurship.
“The goals of the implementation of the 2014-2017 program of the Armenian government are ensuring economic growth rates exceeding those of developed countries by means of 5% medium-term growth of GDP, a gradual increase of the minimum wage to 65,000 drams, and poverty reduction” the deputy prime minister said.
The government will pay special attention to agriculture, small and medium business, and assist IT sector, tourism and some other spheres. Proportional territorial development and promotion of an efficient system of justice and human rights protection will also be at the center of attention.
New mechanisms of social protection, healthcare, education and science have been proposed as well. The government will also devote sequential attention to management of migration processes.
At the conclusion of the session, Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan underlined the importance of the fact that opinions of all the political forces represented in the National Assembly, ministries and departments were taken into account when the new program was developed. “Of course, sensible proposals were accepted, but we could not accept proposals requiring large financial resources,” the prime minister said.
The Armenian government approved the new program, which will be submitted to the National Assembly.
