1 killed in bomb attacks in Pakistan's capital
Police in Pakistan say two bombs that exploded a half hour apart in the capital, Islamabad, have killed a security guard and wounded another person, The Associated Press reported.
Police officer Chaudhry Abid says the first bomb exploded in a supermarket parking lot at about 2 a.m. Saturday, killing a guard and wounding a passer-by.
Another police officer, Mohammad Shafqat, says the second bomb exploded outside another market about 5 kilometers (3 miles) away, breaking windows but wounding no one.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the bombings, but authorities have blamed the Pakistani Taliban for similar attacks across the country.
The latest attacks come days after Pakistani warplanes pounded militant hideouts in the North Waziristan tribal region bordering Afghanistan, killing 60. The military said those killed were militants. Locals said civilians also died.
