V. Khachatryan: It is hard to assess new government program
The program of the new Armenian government has only three indices – economic growth, poverty level, and a wage increase so it is hard to make any assessment of that program, a member of Armenian National Congress (HAK) Party, economist Vahagn Khachatryan said at a press conference today when commenting on the government program recently passed by the Armenian parliament.
According to V. Khachatryan, as an expert he cannot assess the government program because any figures are absent in it.
“The program does not give an opportunity to imagine what awaits us. No one can tell me what Armenia and its population will get from 5% economic growth. It’s a declarative program,” Khachatryan noted.
In his words, the new government is a continuation of the old one, whereas a search of systemic solutions, rather than a change of the cabinet should have been the goal.
“The authorities have adopted a work style of not bearing responsibility, but simply leaving. They don’t want to change this work style,” he said.
The current prime minister and other members of the government will justify their failures for a long time and will never assess the previous government’s steps, Khachatryan said.
