Hayk Demoyan: President’s invitation to Turkish side was unexpected
“Serzh Sargsyan’s invitation to the Turkish president may prompt the U.S. and the EU to pressurize the Turkish president to accept the invitation and visit Armenia on April 24, 2015,” Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum Institute Hayk Demoyan told ‘Haykakan Zhamanak’ daily.
According to him, the unexpectedness of S. Sargsyan’s invitation is the reason for the absence of an official response from the Turkish side. “There was a factor of unexpectedness in Sargsyan’s invitation so there has been no response so far, but there will be a response, I don’t doubt it”, Demoyan said.
The paper says that in all likelihood the current Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will be Turkey’s president in 2015. For the first time, nationwide voting will be held to elect president of Turkey in August as the country shifts to the parliamentary to a presidential system.
