Chshmarityan: Armenia to gain from development of economic ties with Iran
The creation of a free economic zone on the Armenian-Iranian border will prove effective, Armenian Minister of Economy Karen Chshmarityan told reporters today.
In his words, Armenia will gain from the development of economic relations of any kind with Iran, especially when the matter concerns an economic zone as Iran was and remains a reliable partner.
The minister said that the program of creating a free economic zone aroused interest of Diaspora businessmen and cooperation can be carried out in production and some other spheres.
When asked if the sanctions against Iran will affect that process, the minister replied that West’s sanctions have never hindered cooperation of the two countries. “Now too, we conduct normal trade with Iran, while sanctions are related to companies Armenia have never worked with”, Chshmarityan said.
