Son of Yerevan mayor’s advisor detained

Thanks to investigatory actions and explanatory work of law enforcers, Samvel K., 24, came to a police station at 11:10 pm on June 10 and surrendered a 9 mm Makarov pistol.

Samvel K. said that on June 6 he fired the pistol several times into the air in the yard of a house on Ulnetsi Street in Yerevan, the Armenian police said.

Samvel K. has been detained.

We would remind you that police were informed at 11:00 pm on June 6 that shots were fired at the intersection of P. Sevak and Ulnetsi Streets.

Upon their arrival at the scene, policemen learned that an unknown person fired several shots into the air during a squabble in the yard of a house on Ulnetsi Street around 10:50 pm and then the people involved in the squabble fled the scene. 3 cartridge cases and a bullet were found at the scene.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 258 part 4 and Article 265 part 1 of the Criminal Code.

According to media reports, the man who fired shots is samvel Kotanjyan, the son of Yerevan’s Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district’s ex-head who is now an advisor to Yerevan mayor.

An investigation is underway.
