Armenian prime minister receives Bundestag member Karl Lamers
Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received today deputy of the Bundestag, former President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Karl Lamers, the press office of the government reported.
The head of government expressed satisfaction with the high level of bilateral relations and underlined the importance of developing Armenian-German cooperation. He said Germany is the first trading partner of Armenia among EU states and highly appreciated technical and financial assistance of 464 million euros provided by the German government to Armenia over the years of its independence. Besides, Hovik Abrahamyan stressed the high level and efficiency of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Karl Lamers said for his part that Armenia has always been represented at the high level at the NATO PA and he considers Armenia a reliable partner.
At the request of the guest, the prime minister spoke about the prospects of Armenia’s participation in integration processes (Customs Union, European Union), the geopolitical situation in the region, and relations with neighboring states.
The interlocutors attached importance to a peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict in the format of the OSCE Minsk Group.
The sides also exchanged opinions about the prospects of development of Armenia-EU relations. H. Abrahamyan stressed that Armenia is interested in maintaining and raising the level of relations with the EU. This will allow the country to continue reforms in various spheres and reach a higher level of cooperation. Karl Lamers assured the Armenian prime minister that Germany is ready to assist with the deepening and expansion of cooperation between Armenia and the EU.
