Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera used as code names for cocaine in busted
Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera — ’90s and ’00s music stars, pop icons and… code words for cocaine and other drugs?
That’s what New York drug dealers were doing with their craft. A narcotics ring of more than two dozen members was cracked by police and was indicted for selling a plethora of drugs — among them heroin, cocaine, ecstasy and more — throughout Albany and the surrounding area.
A drug bust isn’t particularly unusual anywhere, though; it’s the code words that the dealers were using as they sold.
In attempts to keep the drug deals under wraps, the ring called its wares Britney or Christina Aguilera, after the pop stars (no word on why Aguilera’s last name was used but Spears’ was not).
Britney was the code name for crack, while Aguilera constituted cocaine.
According to the Times Union, multiple dealers indicted in the bust were selling drugs near children; one in particular had a “house full of cocaine” in which his daughters resided, said Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s Office.
The busted ring has had 340 counts of drug trafficking brought against it. One, a 36-year-old man, has been indicted as a major trafficker.
