Rustamyan: We wait for more serious answer to our demands
The answer of the Armenian authorities does not reflect seriousness, with which the 12 demands of the non-government parliamentary factions were formulated. The head of ARF-Dashnaktsutyun faction Armen Rustamyan said in the parliament today when speaking about statements made by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan during ‘Interview’ program of Public Television Company on June 17.
Commenting yesterday on the demands presented by the four political factions, Serzh Sargsyan said that to all appearances, the document authors were in a hurry and made some substantive and linguistic errors because if the goal of the Armenian opposition is cooperation, then the words ‘we demand’ and similar expressions should not be used in the text.
“There is nothing hasty in it. Unlike the authorities’ hasty initiatives which are now being discussed in the parliament, the four factions worked on those points for a long time. The public was informed how many meetings were held by the four political forces so the unserious attitude to the submitted document results in the current situation in the country,” Rustamyan noted.
According to him, the document presents the problems and goals that are not new. “Yes, we demand because what is happening now exceeds all bounds. These demands were not made up out of whole cloth. These are demands of the society. These are demands because if they are not met, it means that we have a situation when the problems voiced by society and the four parties are simply ignored,” Rustamyan said.
In his words, the four factions have already taken all the possible steps on cooperation and tried to find points of contact with the government.
“I think it is necessary to address the contents, rather than cavil at words. We are waiting for a more serious answer concerning the reality or unreality of fulfilment of the 12 points submitted,” Rustamyan noted.
