Pashinyan meets detainees. Many sustained injuries
Deputy of the Armenian National Congress (HAK) parliamentary faction Nikol Pashinyan has met with the citizens taken to a police station after they were detained during a protest staged today outside the building of Armenia’s Public Services Regulatory Commission in Yerevan. They were protesting the upcoming rise in electricity prices.
The HAK deputy said that protocols about administrative offences were compiled concerning all the detainees.
According to Pashinyan, one of the detained activists, Narek Hakobyan, is suspected of using violence against a policeman. “No criminal case has been opened. Materials are still being prepared. Administrative protocols were compiled against the majority of the detainees. They will be set free within three hours,” Pashinyan noted.
In his words, he managed to meet with 20 detained citizens. “Many of them sustained injuries,” Pashinyan said.
Besides, according to N. Pashinyan, the impression was that the detained citizens were not duly informed of their rights. “I believe that special forms should be kept at police stations and when people are brought there, they should be informed of their rights in writing, which was not done,” Nikol Pashinyan said.
