Prime minister slams ‘undisciplined and provocative’ actions of activists
At the government session today Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan criticized the ‘undisciplined and provocative’ conduct of the civic activists who pelted coins at the minister of labor and social affairs and the minister of education and science.
“I believe that attempts to put pressure on representatives of the authorities by using such methods are inadmissible. Some people forget that like other members of society, representatives of the authorities also have the same rights and freedoms that should be protected,” H. Abrahamyan said.
He at the same time spoke in favor of freedoms of speech, expression, movement, and assembly. “I am not only in favor of these freedoms, but I will protect them, but one person’s freedom ends where another person’s freedom is infringed,” the prime minister noted.
“In such cases it is permissiveness, rather than freedom. Freedom is the stronghold of democracy, while permissiveness is the stronghold of anarchy,” Hovik Abrahamyan stressed.
He said he does not accept the situation and instructed the justice minister and the police chief to find solutions to the problem and invite international experts if necessary.
