Four Armenian villages come under Azerbaijani gunfire
Last evening the Azerbaijani side was firing shots at four villages of Armenia’s Tavush province – Nerkin Karmiraghbyur, Chinari, Aygepar and Movses villages for three hours.
“Yesterday’s gunfire was heavier than usual. Shots were heard two days ago as well, but fire was not so heavy. Yesterday shooting began at 10 pm and lasted until 1:00 am,” Movses village administrator Ararat Avalyan told Aysor.am.
“The village came under fire from several directions. They were shooting at our houses. Windows and roofs have been damaged. A bed caught fire in a home,” he said.
According to Avalyan, a fire broke out in the border zone as a result of the shooting and several mines planted at that section exploded.
The administrator of Aygepar village Andranik Aydinyan said the Azerbaijani side used large caliber guns. The gas pipeline was damaged.
The gunfire caused damage to residential houses in Nerkin Karmiraghbyur village. “The shooting lasted from 10 pm to 1 am today. Our troops returned the fire. The damage is being assessed now,” village administrator Manvel Kamendatyan said.
“The enemy stopped fire after our response. Our response to their gunfire should be twice as intense,” Chinari village head Samvel Saghoyan told Aysor.am.
