Hovik Abrahamyan pays visit to Shirak province hit by hail
Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan paid a working visit to Armenia’s Shirak province today, the press office of the government said.
The prime minister was accompanied by Deputy PM, Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgyan, Agriculture Minister Sergo Karapetyan, Shirak governor Felix Tsolakyan, other officials.
H. Abrahamyan inspected the sown areas in several villages and familiarized himself with the damage caused by a powerful hailstorm two days ago. In particular, he spoke to farmers in the villages of Nor Kyank, Panik, Spandaryan, and Geghnist, heard their complaints related to the situation and discussed the possible options of government assistance.
The prime minister informed farmers that a commission composed of officials of Ministries of Territorial Administration and Agriculture and the administrations of Shirak province and the affected villages has been set up to rapidly assess the damage. The commission will collect information about the damage, based on which the government will make a decision about goal-oriented assistance.
The prime minister also spoke with farmers about other problems of their villages such water supply, school construction, etc. Hovik Abrahamyan said the government will discuss these problems and try to solve them as far as possible.
