Arzumanyan: I hope Armenia’s entry into Eurasian Union will drag on forever
Voicing the issue of customs borders with Nagorno Karabakh is not advantageous to Russia at the moment as Russia is now trying to have it out with all the partners and then to punish Azerbaijan for its refusal to join the Customs Union and Armenia for its attempts to be independent, ex-Foreign Minister of Armenia, parliamentary deputy Alexander Arzumanyan told reporters today.
“I hope that the process of Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) will drag on forever. Two members of the Union – Kazakhstan and Belarus are not interested in our membership, while Russia has its political interests: after losing Ukraine, it does it best so that at least Azerbaijan could join EEU,” Arzumanyan said.
In his opinion, recent tensions on the border are also related to accession to the Eurasian Union.
“When Azerbaijan becomes convinced that it can resolve the problem on the battlefield, it will declare war on the same day. It means we should always be always prepared for war,” Arzumanyan noted.
The deputy expressed hope that a summit of Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev will be held in the near future because the tense situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border raises concern.
