Businessman Levon Hayrapetyan detained in Moscow
Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) detained businessman Levon Hayrapetyan, one of the richest Diaspora Armenians. He was detained by FSB employees on July 15, 2014 at Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport where he arrived from Monaco, Rosbalt news agency reported, citing sources in Russian special services.
Hayrapetyan was officially informed about his detention. Investigators will file a petition for his arrest to Basmanny court of Moscow in the next few days.
The Armenian businessman’s detention is part of an investigation into the activities of Kingisepp criminal group headed by underworld leader Sergey Finagin.
Ex-senator Igor Izmestyev currently serving a life term for organizing murders and terrorist acts said in the summer of 2014 he wants to give evidence about facts unknown to investigators. The ex-senator was transported from the penal colony to Moscow. He said Levon Hayrapetyan was involved in some crimes.
