Investigators to bring charges against Levon Hayrapetyan on July 24
Investigators will bring charges against prominent businessman Levon Hayrapetyan on July 24, ITAR-TASS reported. L. Hayrepetyan is suspected of embezzlement and money laundering.
“The investigator notified Levon Hayrapaetyan’s lawyer that they plan to bring charges against him on July 24,” Hayrapetyan’s lawyer Ruben Markaryan told ITAR-TASS.
According to Markaryan, yesterday the defense filed an application for a medical examination to determine whether Hayrapetyan “suffers from diseases that will prevent his imprisonment in an investigatory isolation ward”. Doctors will take a decision within two weeks. The defense also stated about the need to involve the medical doctors attending Hayrapetyan in the examination.
Basmanny court of Moscow on July 17 took a decision to keep Hayrapetyan in custody until September 15. Besides, Bashneft Company’s shares in excess of 300 million rubles were arrested as part of the criminal case.
Hayrapetyan does not admit his guilt and denies charges against him.
Levon Hayrapetyan, 65, was detained on July at 15 Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport where he arrived from Nice. The evidence of ex-senator Igor Izmestyev serving a life term for particularly grave crimes was a ground for Hayrapetyan’s detention.
