Some 80 people injured in Turkey tank truck explosion
Some 80 people sustained burns as a result of an explosion of a tank truck carrying petrol in the region of Diyarbakır, southeast Turkey, RIA Novosti reported.
The local administration said the accident took place on a road at which the tank truck overturned, causing the explosion and injuring about 80 people.
The injured people were hospitalised.
According to CNN Turk, the driver of the vehicle lost control over it, which caused it to overturn and it stood in the way of other cars and buses. The bus passengers rushed to help the driver but a strong blast followed and the fuel which spilt on the road caught fire.
The cars and buses nearby were also damaged by the fire.
According to Anadolu Agency, about 20 of the injured people are in critical condition.
