Haykakan Zhamanak: Hectic autumn promised by 4 factions is unlikely
The first meeting of representatives of the four non-coalition parliamentary forces after the summer holidays is scheduled for August 20, ‘Haykakan Zhamanak’ daily was informed by a representative of ‘the four’.
According to the same source, ‘the four’ promised that the autumn will be a hectic one, but in reality no ‘fall exacerbation’ is expected. “At least, the four factions are not going to demand the resignation of the government or President Serzh Sargsyan. The possibility of the four factions’ demands for snap parliamentary elections is also ruled out,” the source said.
The daily writes that the actions of ‘the four’ will be related mostly to the 12-point demand submitted to the authorities, and there are no serious disagreements between the four factions and the prime minister or Serzh Sargsyan. “They don’t even rule out reaching an agreement with the Armenian president about the refusal to hold a referendum on constitutional amendments,” the paper says.
Deputy of ARFD faction Artsvik Minasyan also responded to the daily’s questions about activities in the autumn. He said in particular that in any case, the autumn is going to be tense, but mainly in the foreign policy sphere (accession to the Eurasian Union, the negotiating process). When asked if ‘the four’ will demand the president’s resignation, Minasyan said: “The issue has not yet been discussed. I don’t think so”.
