The Troitsky court of Moscow will hold pleadings today in the criminal case of Hrachia Harutyunyan, an Armenian truck driver who caused an accident last year killing 18 people, ITAR-TASS reported.
The defendant’s lawyers are expected to deliver closing speeches. Harutyunyan will also make a last plea, after which the judges will go to the consultative room to take a decision.
The road accident occurred at 7th kilometer of a motorway in Moscow’s Troitsky administrative district on July 13, 2013.
Harutyunyan’s KamAZ truck loaded with crashed stones ploughed into a passenger bus. 18 people died, over 60 received injuries.
The crash drew a wide response. Moscow traffic police and prosecutor’s office conducted checkups of transport companies, as a result of which operation of about 9 thousand vehicles was prohibited.
