Aravot: Russian law enforcers expect a deal with Hayrapetyan
‘Aravot’ paper writes that Russian law enforcement agencies are interested in evidence, rather than money, of Russia-based Armenian businessman Levon Hayrapetyan.
‘There is every reason to believe that Russian law enforcers failed to ‘sew’ a case based on the available facts and now they need the ‘necessary’ evidence. L. Hayrapetyan’s problem probably lies in that he is a weak link in Bashneft’s chain. Murtaz Rakhimov had too high a post to find himself in such a position, while his son lives in Austria. On the other side is Sistema Group led by Vladimir Yervtushenko. So Levon Hayrapetyan is obviously the weak link, especially now that he has serious health problems. Russian law enforcers probably think that because of his health problems Hayrapetyan will rapidly decide to cooperate with them. To judge from the available information, Hayrapetyan refused to give the ‘necessary’ evidence,” the paper says.
