Zhamanak: Transport fare not to increase in near future

No increase in transport fares is expected in the near future, Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan said during his working visit to Avan district of Yerevan when responding to a question of ‘Zhamanak’ paper’s correspondent.

“I officially declare that transport fares will not rise in the near future,” the mayor said.

According to him, a commission was set up, with experts of international organizations being involved. Monitoring and discussions are underway.

“Calculations are being made, and we will not take such a step until we get final results about the quality of transport in one or two years and safety guarantees in this sphere,” the mayor said, adding that Yerevan residents will be regularly informed about the process. “No actions will be taken secretly. We will try to find a solution to the issue by joint efforts”, he said.
