Julian Assange says he will leave Ecuadorian embassy 'soon'
Julian Assange says he will be leaving the Ecuadorian embassy in London 'soon' but denied it was because he has developed heart, lung and blood pressure problems while living there for two years, the Daily Mail reported.
The fugitive Australian WikiLeaks founder gave a news conference from his London hideout where he set out how he had been 'imprisoned' as part of a human rights scandal.
Metropolitan Police officers have been standing outside the Knightsbridge building since he took refuge there in June 2012 - a vigil costing at least £11,000 per day.
The 42-year-old is wanted in Sweden after allegedly sexually assaulting two women in Stockholm in 2010 has developed health issues caused by a lack of sunlight.
'It has been almost four years since I was first detained in the country... imprisoned without charge,' he said.
'It has now been two years since I was granted political asylum... throughout the time - four years - I have not been charged with offences in the UK or in Sweden.
'Europe meant to be a place where basic rights are respected'.
He added: 'I will be leaving the embassy soon... but not for the reasons that have been reported' - but refused to expand further.
